Frequently Asked
When can I start sparring?
Usually after 6 months. You’ll need Coach Dave’s approval before you’re allowed to spar. First, you’ll need to develop basic techniques in the all-levels classes. If you’ve trained at another gym in the past and feel your skill level might already be suitable for advanced training, chat with Dave to see if you’re ready for the advanced classes.
What if my partner is more experienced that me?
You’ll train with people of various sizes, skill levels, and weight classes. If your partner is more experienced, be upfront about your experience level. Ask them to assist your learning and match your intensity. When in doubt, go light and avoid escalating the intensity.
What equipment do I need?
You’ll need gloves, wraps, shin guards, a groin guard, a gum shield, a towel, and a water bottle. These essentials ensure you’re prepared to train effectively and safely in every session.
What do the classes consist of?
Tuesdays class focuses on general sparring, giving you an opportunity to practice skills and techniques. The advanced class on Thursdays hones technique execution under Coach Dave’s guidance. These sessions are fighter orientated and will help you develop discipline, focus, durability, and mental toughness.
